Free government help for your child in Odisha

The government checks children for free, under its RBSK programme. If your child has a disability, like autism, you can apply for a free UDID card online.

What is RBSK?

RBSK is a government health programme. It checks children from birth to 18 years, for free. It looks for problems like speech delay, hearing loss and autism.

Health teams visit anganwadis twice a year, and schools once a year.

What is a DEIC?

DEIC means District Early Intervention Centre. The government plans one at each district hospital. Ask at yours.

A DEIC should have a speech therapist and audiologist, a psychologist, a physiotherapist and a special educator.

It is mainly for children under 6. Older children are sent to other government hospitals. The care is free. Parents can also go to the DEIC directly.

What is a UDID card?

UDID is the Government of India’s disability card. Autism is a disability under Indian law. A disability certificate is valid in every state.

How do I apply for a UDID card?

  • A parent can apply for their child, on the official website.
  • Keep ready: a passport photo, a signature or thumbprint, an ID proof, and your child’s medical papers.
  • If you need help, go to the government hospital named for disability certificates.
  • After you apply, the hospital gives a date to check your child. Take your child on that day.
  • There is no fee. The card comes to your home by post, for free.

Be careful

  • Use only the official website.
  • The government charges nothing. Do not pay anyone who promises to get you the card.
