Where can I see a child psychiatrist in Odisha?
Start with your child’s doctor or your district hospital. For specialist help, AIIMS Bhubaneswar runs a child and adolescent psychiatry clinic, and SCB Cuttack’s mental health institute sees children too. Tele-MANAS (14416) is free, day and night.
What if my child is in danger?
If your child hurts themselves, is in danger, or talks about suicide, go to the nearest hospital at once. Then call Tele-MANAS on 14416.
Where do I start?
- Talk to your child’s doctor first.
- Ask at your district headquarters hospital whether the mental health (psychiatry) OPD is running, and on which days.
- For a child under 6 with delays: ask at the district hospital whether it has an early intervention centre (DEIC). It is free.
- For stress or a mental health worry, call Tele-MANAS on 14416 or 1-800-891-4416. It is free, day and night, and its counsellors can send you to a specialist.
